The diffusion of knowledge refers to the interchange and propagation of knowledge through different media, or the transfer of knowledge from one subject to another. The concept of diffusion or dissemination of knowledge eventually gave rise to the concept of the diffusion of any specific topic over the universe of subject. In this paper, the growth of literature and the diffusion of the multidisciplinary topic “Carbon Nanotube” have been discussed since the year 1992 to 2022. The analysis of growth of literature shows the topic “Carbon Nanotube” follows logistic growth pattern over the last thirty years, which accords De Solla Price’ theory. The topic “Carbon Nanotube” was born in the subject ‘Physics’ and then gradually became relevant or contextual with other subjects in due course of time like material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, engineering etc. The core journals published the papers on ‘Carbon Nanotube’ had also been changed over the stipulated time span of thirty years. The diffusion phenomenon has been proved here by the analysis of correlation coefficients between the ranks of the core journals and the ranks of the associated subjects. The proof of diffusion phenomenon of a specific topic over several broad subjects’ fields by correlation analysis is a new technique introduced here. This technique can be applied for studying diffusion of other multidisciplinary topics over various broad subjects.
Swapan Paul Bidyarthi Dutta Copyright (c) 2024 Swapan Paul, Bidyarthi Dutta https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-08-22 2024-08-22 3 2 111 122 10.5530/jcitation.3.2.14 A Scientometric Analysis of Highly Cited Papers of Pakistan in COVID-19 Research 2020-2023 https://jcitation.org/index.php/jdscics/article/view/106
Highly Cited Papers (HCPs) are influential sources of information that highlight trend-setting areas of research and identify key players within a subject. This study aims to measure the research performance of Pakistan in COVID-19-related research from 2020 to 2023, focusing specifically on HCPs that have received more than 100 citations. A bibliometric approach was employed to analyse COVID-19 research papers from Pakistan, with data sourced from Scopus. The period covered was from 2020 to 2023. The analysis included metrics such as the number of HCPs, citation counts, international collaboration, and funding sources. A total of 7602 COVID-19-related papers were published by Pakistani researchers, of which 164 (1.59%) were classified as HCPs. These HCPs collectively registered 38,244 citations, averaging 233.10 citations per paper. International collaboration was evident in 81.71% of these HCPs, and 32.92% were funded by external agencies. The USA, China, UK, and Saudi Arabia were identified as the leading international collaborating partners. Despite the high collaboration rates, the average productivity per organization in Pakistan was low, with only 6.32 HCPs per organization. Similarly, the average productivity of 31 research authors was 2.48 HCPs per author. International collaboration has positioned Pakistan at the centre stage in COVID-19 research, with external funding significantly enhancing research quality. However, the share of HCPs remains less than 2% of Pakistan's total COVID-19-related publications, indicating a significant gap between the quantity and quality of research output. This suggests that while Pakistan has made notable contributions, there remains substantial potential for add
Brij Mohan Gupta Surinder Mohan Dhawan Yogendra Singh Nupur Srivastava Raju Vaishya Mallikarjun Kappi Ghouse Modin Nabeesab Mamdapur Copyright (c) 2024 Brij Mohan Gupta, Surinder Mohan Dhawan, Yogendra Singh, Nupur Srivastava, Raju Vaishya, Mallikarjun Kappi, Ghouse Modin Nabeesab Mamdapur https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-08-22 2024-08-22 3 2 123 137 10.5530/jcitation.3.2.15 A Bibliometric Analysis of Jaggery Related Literature Published During 2000-2023 https://jcitation.org/index.php/jdscics/article/view/110
The study proposed to provide a bibliometric analysis of the jaggery-related literature published from 2000 to 2023. The data for this study was retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed using VOSviewer, Bibliometrix, and word cloud for the following: trend of publications, type of document, h-index, performance of countries and authors, most cited publications and most prolific journals. Further, a co-authorship network of countries and authors, a co-citation network of authors and references, a co-occurrence network, word clouds of keywords, and a thematic map were also analyzed to find research hot spots and current and future directions of research. Results showed that India, Colombia, and Pakistan are the leading producers of scientific literature while Sugar Tech and Journal of Food Science and Technology are the most influential journals in this field. A Co-authorship network indicates a low level of cooperation among the countries and the researchers, which is not conducive to the progress of research in the field. Word cloud and thematic map show that research related to jaggery is moving in a diversified direction. It is anticipated that this bibliometric study will be crucial to the researchers' understanding of research trends, hotspots, advancements, and current and future directions.
Sachin Kamboj Sudhir Kumar Tyagi Copyright (c) 2024 Sachin Kamboj, Sudhir Kumar Tyagi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-08-22 2024-08-22 3 2 138 154 10.5530/jcitation.3.2.16 “Highly Read and Poorly Cited?” A Critical Perspective on Academic Social Networks https://jcitation.org/index.php/jdscics/article/view/91
On the occasion of 300,000 reads of our team’s studies archived on ResearchGate, an Academic Social Network (ASN), this study offers a critical perspective on academic social networks from the perspective of research and educational dimensions of scholarly work.
